Following on from winning the overall Business of the Year Award at the Dungarvan and West Waterford /FBD business awards event in November, we have been busy donating our winnings to a number of local charities. John McGrath and Lucia Quealy, both Directors of Terra Nua Building Contractors announced immediately after the awards event that their intention was to donate all of the prize money to deserving charities at Christmas time.
The Charities that have been chosen are, Dungarvan Men’s Shed, St. Vincent De Paul, and Dungarvan Lions Club. These groups were specifically chosen as we feel that the Men’s Shed does some fantastic work in the community, including the building of a Santa Sleigh for the Christmas festivities to be enjoyed by all, as well as offering men of all ages a refuge, a place to meet, chat, learn and be gainfully involved in a range of activities. We are delighted that our donation has been used to provide the men with Polo Shirts and Fleeces with their logo on for all their members. John Harnedy on behalf of the Dungarvan Lions Club accepted Supervalu vouchers from Terra Nua’s Padraig Curran, and John McGrath presented Monica from the local Vincent De Paul with Supervalu vouchers also.
We hope that this small gesture has helped local families during the festive period, and besides giving people the means to buy food and fuel, we hope more than anything else, that we have provided hope to those in our community who need it most.
