We are extremely pleased and absolutely chuffed to have won the FBD Business of the Year Award 2015, at the Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber Awards event hosted at Lismore Castle On Friday 6th November. Against some very tough competition, with some excellent and much admired businesses being short-listed for each of the categories, we are over the moon to have been recognised in this way. This awards event is important to all small businesses, and we give a hat tip to all businesses who got involved in these awards, be they winners, sponsors or short-listed businesses.

The Directors of Terra Nua Building Contractors, John McGrath and Lucia Quealy have dedicated this award to their parent’s: to the Late John McGrath Senior, who was himself a Builder and to Mairead McGrath who ran a successful retail business in Dungarvan for many years before retiring in 2003.  Tribute also being paid to the Late Peter and Cora Quealy, both of whom ran successful businesses in Dungarvan and Lismore; a bar and a general drapery business respectively. Coming from families with backgrounds in both building and business, it is fitting to pay tribute to those who instilled an honest, resilient and “can do” work ethic into both directors. It is also very fitting that this award which is a business award, has gone to a building company, given the very difficult economic climate in which this sector has traded in over the past number of years.

Terra Nua would also like to pay tribute to their loyal workforce, to their direct employees and to their broad locally based panel of Sub-Contractors, tradesmen and Suppliers, without whom none of this would be possible. Terra Nua Building Contractors have always sought to support the local economy by employing locally based people, and by using materials that are locally produced and or locally sold, wherever possible. We believe very strongly that “ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine”  For this reason, John and Lucia have decided to donate their winning’s to a number of locally based charities this Christmas,  details of which will be announced shortly.
